Objective

I spearheaded the design efforts and collaborated closely with a diverse cross-functional team, including the CEO and offshore engineers. Upon joining the project, I encountered the challenge of swiftly showcasing my skills to the RepCard team, who relied on me to seamlessly integrate and develop a comprehensive design roadmap for the new sales features.

Research & Immersion

At the outset, I engaged in thorough research to understand the CEO's requirements and draw inspiration from the existing mobile app, aiming to identify best practices and potential enhancements. Concurrently, I delved into the RepCard branding, paying special attention to its distinctive user flow. Through collaboration with the team and feedback from existing users, I assessed which features to leverage, discard, or prioritize for future development.

Developing Strategy

Recognizing the RepCard team's previous struggles with a design roadmap, I strategically chose mid to high-fidelity wireframes, prioritizing key features identified during research. This decision fostered trust and encouraged further exploration. Subsequently, strengthened trust facilitated deeper collaboration, allowing me to delve into project objectives, establish connections with internal stakeholders, access additional content, and coordinate user testing sessions involving 11 key salespeople already using the existing mobile app.

Solutions

I proposed a solution for RepCard's sales optimization needs by integrating gamification features like Races, Leaderboards, Training Milestones, and Team Brackets. These tools engage individual sales professionals and motivate teams, offering real-time performance tracking, structured learning paths, and opportunities for healthy competition.

Together, these features create a dynamic environment that motivates and empowers sales professionals while delivering tangible value to RepCard's existing and prospective clients.

During the research and interview stage, core features began to emerge as recurring themes, aligning closely with RepCard's business motivations. Through in-depth analysis and conversations with users, it became evident that features such as real-time performance tracking, leaderboard competitions, and customizable training modules were crucial for enhancing sales effectiveness and driving engagement. These findings mirrored RepCard's goal of providing sales professionals with tools that motivate and empower them to achieve their targets while promoting a culture of continuous improvement and success.

Initial Concepts

Once I gathered the recurring themes and features from the research, I jumped into crafting initial wireframes. It was the sketch blueprint for RepCard's new features, keeping in mind what users wanted and what the business needed. I didn't stop there, though. With each iteration, I fine-tuned the wireframes based on feedback, making sure we were on track to meet our goals. This hands-on approach allowed us to build a solid foundation for the final product while staying flexible to changes along the way.

By focusing on these core features, I aimed to deliver a functional product that provided tangible value to users while laying the groundwork for future enhancements and expansions based on evolving user needs and market demands.

Not only did it increase their engagement during user testing, but it also showed them that the RepCard team was truly listening.

At the outset of this LMS project, our team's goal was to define a guiding path for the design process. Through collaborative brainstorming sessions and comprehensive user research, our objective was to pinpoint stakeholder needs, key user pain points, and lay the groundwork for a user-centered design approach. By establishing attainable milestones and nurturing effective communication within the team, our primary focus was on orchestrating a unified effort towards delivering an intuitive and captivating learning experience for ERG leaders.

Research & Immersion

During the research phase, our team thoroughly explored the needs of ERG leaders, conducting stakeholder interviews and user research to understand their preferences and challenges. We developed personas, analyzed competitors, audited content, and held ideation workshops to generate ideas. Finally, we created prototypes and tested them with real users, refining our designs based on their feedback. This phase was marked by a focused effort to deeply understand ERG leaders, guiding the development of a user-centered LMS platform.

Developing Strategy

During the Developing Strategy Phase, our team focused on translating the insights gathered during the research phase into a cohesive strategy for the LMS platform. This involved defining clear goals and objectives based on the identified user needs and business requirements. We prioritized features and functionalities, considering both short-term deliverables and long-term scalability. Additionally, we crafted a content strategy to ensure that the platform would offer relevant and engaging materials to support the learning needs of ERG leaders. Throughout this phase, close collaboration with stakeholders and ongoing iteration were essential to refining and finalizing the strategic roadmap for the LMS platform.

Solutions

Our research highlights a significant gap in ERG Leaders' learning experience, lacking engagement and interactivity. To address this, proposed features include breaking up text, a resource download zone for offline access, short interactive quizzes, and a live interaction class section.

These additions aim to enhance engagement, comprehension, and flexibility, fostering a more dynamic and effective learning environment for ERG Leaders.

My Role

As the team's lead liaison to our Stakeholder, I played a pivotal role in ensuring clear communication and alignment of project objectives with stakeholder expectations. Additionally, I spearheaded the interaction design with our lead UI designer, ensuring that the user interface was not only visually appealing but also intuitive and user-friendly.

My responsibilities also included leading the effort to ensure web accessibility for the LMS platform, ensuring that it adhered to accessibility standards and was inclusive for all users. Furthermore, I actively participated in our UX research efforts, contributing insights and feedback to inform our design decisions and improve the overall user experience.

Branding

We chose a modern and inclusive design aesthetic, featuring the Inter font for a clean and accessible typography. The color palette of light purple and green, complemented by white, conveys a sense of freshness, vibrancy, and professionalism, aligning with the platform's focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Analysis

The competitive and comparative analysis involved studying platforms such as Duolingo, Pathrise, Mind Valley, and Skillshare to identify successful features and strategies employed in their products. By examining their strengths and weaknesses, we gained valuable insights to inform our own platform's design and feature implementation, aiming to incorporate best practices and innovations for an enhanced user experience.

Conducting Interviews

The initial research interviews involved engaging with seven ERG leaders to understand their perspectives on engagement, preferred learning modalities, and key priorities for an e-learning platform. Through these discussions, we gained valuable insights into their learning preferences and identified priorities to inform the design and development of the platform.

The User

The persona creation process involved synthesizing user research data to develop representative profiles of our target audience, highlighting their motivations, preferences, and pain points. By empathizing with our users' needs and challenges, we gained a deeper understanding of their specific pain points and identified opportunities to address them within our project timeline, ensuring that our solution would effectively meet their needs and aspirations.

Initial Design

We embarked on a comprehensive process of brainstorming, feature collection, and user needs analysis. Drawing insights from user pain points and requirements, we meticulously crafted wireframes and prototypes to visualize the LMS platform's layout and functionality. Through collaborative ideation sessions, we explored innovative solutions to address user challenges and enhance the learning experience for ERG leaders.

This iterative process laid the groundwork for a user-centered design approach, ensuring that the final product would effectively meet the needs and expectations of our target audience.

Following the creation of our initial prototype, we conducted additional user testing sessions to gather feedback and validate our design decisions. Through iterative refinement, we honed in on key features essential for our minimum viable product (MVP). This included integrating a Live Class platform to foster real-time interaction, implementing short quizzes for active engagement, establishing a downloadable resource zone for offline access, and curating content into shorter, more digestible formats.

These features were selected based on user preferences, ensuring that our MVP would deliver a streamlined and impactful learning experience for ERG leaders.

This flexibility accommodates different learning preferences and schedules, allowing learners to engage with the educational resources at their convenience, even without a stable internet connection.

As a team, our initial objectives were planning out product requirements and setting team and individual goals in order to provide a clear direction for our team to hit the ground running and meet our 14-day deadline effectively. I started by defining the scope of the project, identifying key features, and allocating tasks based on each team member's strengths and expertise. By breaking down the project into manageable components and setting realistic goals, I wanted everyone to understand their role and responsibilities from the outset. Clear timelines, milestones, and checkpoints are established to monitor progress closely and make necessary adjustments to keep us on track.

Research & Immersion

During the initial research phase, our team conducted in-depth interviews with 10 individuals who regularly engage in DIY projects and could potentially benefit from a DIY Home Depot product within the app. This phase was crucial as it allowed us to gain a deep understanding of our users, their needs, pain points, and preferences. Understanding our users was paramount because it helped us tailor our product to their specific needs and preferences, ensuring that it provided genuine value and meets their expectations.

Developing Strategy

We used insights from our user interviews and market research to prioritize DIY features. We analyzed user feedback to identify common needs and preferences, then assessed the competitive landscape to find opportunities for differentiation. Collaborating closely as a design team, we translated insights into actionable plans, including wireframes and technical specifications, ensuring a focused and efficient design process.

Solutions

In response to our research findings and user needs, we proposed a comprehensive set of solutions aimed at enhancing the DIY experience within the Home Depot app. Our proposed features, including a unified DIY feature page, milestone tracking, budget management, and comprehensive project information, are designed to address key pain points and streamline the entire DIY process from planning to execution.

By providing users with a centralized hub for all their DIY needs, intuitive tools for tracking project progress and expenses, and access to detailed project information, our solutions aim to make DIY projects more accessible, enjoyable, and ultimately more successful for users. This cohesive approach transforms what may have been a daunting or fragmented process into a cohesive and enriching journey towards achieving their home improvement goals.
